I have some exciting news for you! Earlier today, my campaign cleared the Republican Party of Virginia's "pre-check" process in order to qualify for the 2017 primary ballot. The campaign turned in an impressive 15,573 signatures—far exceeding the minimum requirement.
I cannot say enough about the dedication and hard work by our loyal volunteers and committed staff. Through their hard work across this great Commonwealth, we have completed the first step toward getting on the ballot for the June 13th primary, and we are one step closer to defeating Mark Herring. This was a true team effort and would not have been possible without the enthusiasm of our grassroots team in every corner of Virginia.
Our signature-gathering effort over the last few weeks further demonstrates that there is an energy and excitement about the upcoming election all across Virginia. We have put thousands of miles on the car since we announced my candidacy last January, and one thing has become clear to me: Virginians want an Attorney General who will defend the will of the people and enforce the rule of law, not advance their own personal, political agenda. We will forcefully make that case in the coming weeks and months.
I am proud that my campaign is the first Attorney General campaign to pass the pre-check process. In fact, we turned in more signatures than any other 2017 campaign that has passed pre-check at this time. That is a clear sign that we have a strong grassroots team, and I'm grateful for everyone that's helped us get to this point.
However, we need to continue growing our ranks. If you're ready to turn Virginia red on November 7th, join the campaign today by signing up to volunteer. Additionally, your financial support is necessary to get our message out and fight back against the liberal establishment pouring money into Mark Herring’s campaign.
We are one step closer to winning the primary in June and defeating Mark Herring in November, and I want to thank you for your continued support. I look forward to working alongside you in the coming weeks and months.
