RICHMOND – John Adams, the Republican nominee for attorney general, issued the following statement regarding the results of today’s Republican primary:
“Today, Republicans across the Commonwealth went to the polls and elected our Republican candidates for governor and lieutenant governor. In doing so, they selected two great Virginians who have run positive, ideas-driven campaigns. I want to congratulate Ed Gillespie on his nomination for governor, and Jill Vogel on her nomination for lieutenant governor. Together, the three of us will stand up for limited and ethical government, individual liberties, and the Rule of Law. We will work tirelessly to take our message to all Virginians between now and Election Day.
“Virginians will face an important choice this fall for attorney general. They can choose an attorney general who has politicized the office, refused to represent Virginia citizens, and chosen his own politics over the Commonwealth's best interests. Or, they can choose an attorney general who has spent a majority of his career in public service including as a Naval officer and federal prosecutor, with experience managing a large law firm and effectively working to better people’s lives and make our communities safe. I am confident that Virginians want an attorney general that will enforce and defend the laws of our Commonwealth, not pursue a political agenda. There’s a clear difference between me and Mark Herring, and I look forward to sharing that with every voter over the next five months.”
